Over 100 Years of Heritage

This land was settled by European immigration over 100 years ago. The rich temperate rain forest logged and the forest floor cleared of rocks to provide rock wall lined pastures for generational dairy farming. The residual solitary cabbage palms and giant fig trees a living memorial to a bygone era so to is the dairy farming industry as families look to alternate career paths for the next generation.

With the deregulation of the dairy industry 24 years ago, the land become available for purchase from the original settler dairy family as a blank canvas with one old hay shed and rusty barbed wire fencing accompanying it.

The historic rock walls were cleared of dense weedy overgrowth and protected with electric fences that have replaced all the barbed wire on the property facilitating wildlife movement. Wet areas have been restored and indigenous rain forest actively replanted and fenced off from grazing cattle.

The endangered Illawarra Socketwood was discovered on the land and is being actively regenerating along the pond banks amongst the holes of the newly resurgent wombat community in these rehabilitated zones. The basalt rocks and stones on the land have been used to protect and foster regrowth both around the house and in the forested areas.

Our eco conscious approach extends to 100% off grid electrical (solar) power supply with necessary automatic diesel backup generator supply and lpg gas for wet and cold weather times. We have created a natural rock filter water purification system feeding into and out off the main dam for times of low rainfall and inadequate rainwater tank water catchment.
